DTE Energy Music Theatre remained the most attended amphitheatre in the world for the 15th consecutive year and was listed as the fourth highest drawing concert venue in the world of any type in 2005, according to the year-end lists of Pollstar magazine, a leading entertainment trade publication.
When it opened, it was the largest outdoor amphitheatre in the
United States.
Original DTE Energy Music Theatre (Pine Knob) complex included the
amphitheatre, a golf course, ski resort and real estate lots. Now,
all are under separate ownership.
Was purchased by Palace Sports & Entertainment from the
Nederlander Organization, one of the nation's most prestigious
theatre owners and managers for Broadway-type shows.
Palace Sports & Entertainment purchased DTE Energy Music Theatre
(Pine Knob) in 1990 after exploring the possibility of building its
own brand-new amphitheatre on the site of The Palace (to be known as
Palace Gardens).
DTE Energy Music Theatre (Pine Knob) has been nominated Amphitheatre
of the Year by Performance Magazine all nine years of Palace Sports
& Entertainment ownership.

DTE Energy Music Theatre (Pine Knob) has been named the nation's top-grossing
or highest attended outdoor venue by Amusement Business in each of
the last eight years, since Palace Sports and Entertainment took
ownership.
Total attendance in 2000 was over 967,000. DTE Energy Music Theatre
was named Best Major Outdoor Concert Venue in Pollstar magazine's
annual reader's poll for 2000.
